birthday goodness

henry turned 1 on friday, the 31st, and i think i cried all day. i was surprised at this reaction - i knew i would be happy, but i didn't expect the overwhelming mixture of gratitude, love, and joy. i have said from the beginning that he is the best thing i have ever done, and i believe taking care of him is the best thing i do each day. my heart has never known love like this before, and i cannot thank God enough for allowing me to be henry's mommy.

i will warn you that this post is loaded with birthday pictures, so prepare yourself for an overload of cuteness and awesomeness.

starting with the birthday party ...

we went all out for his cake. he only turns one once, right?

i think he was a bit excited, but also a little overwhelmed ...









he wanted the candle more than he wanted the cake. and he had never had sugar before that day ...





















the party was so much fun, and it was great to celebrate Henry with people we love. thanks so much to ashley for taking these pictures for me.

the morning of his actual birthday, i broke out the camera before breakfast. :)

john came home a little early, and we got him some ballons ...

then we took him to the pool. and these pictures don't even come close to showing how excited he is in the water.

after that we moved on to the cupcake ...





















needless to say, he was pretty tuckered out at the end of the day. and so were we. :)

  1. i have eagerly WAITED for this post!!!! :) :) and you were right...it was full of nothing but cuteness and awesomeness. there are not enough words to describe how beautiful henry is...you can see it all over his precious face!!! and linds, you and john are amazing parents. you can see it in everything you do!!! :)

    and, b/c there were so many unbelievable shots from his birthday, and i LOVED them all, i'm going to leave you w/ my very own, "Top 5 favorite shots of Henry's Birthday:"
    5. Henry in his "Birthday Boy" shirt, looking at the camera with 1 squinty eye. That kid has THE best facial expressions.
    4. Henry grabbing for your camera. Seriously...best facial expressions EVER.
    3. The "I'm going to tear this cake in TWO" face is flipping awesome. Fists ready and icing flying!!!
    2. ALL of the "making noise" shots are ridiculous, but the one where he has one arm leaned onto the table behind him??? Hilarious. He is straight chillin' like a villain. Like making noises is his JOB.
    1. Henry and John while he eats his cupcake. Nothing beats the way they're looking at one another. :)

    These are all priceless. Cutest 1 year old. Ever. :)
